WHAT PEOPLE NEED IN LOCKWOOD Survey

At the Beaumont Park Heritage Day we asked people to write down what they would like to have in Lockwood.

The two things that people said were:

A POST OFFICE

TOILETS

We will attempt to contact our representatives on Kirklees Council and urge them to reinstate these two, much needed facilities in Lockwood.

However we have had both of these before and they have been removed due to Government funding cuts to councils.

Lockwood Baptist Church argued strongly for the toilets to be retained.

Since their closure our lovely garden has been used as a toilet so sadly we have had to keep it locked when no one from the church is on the premises, which means a pleasant place for people to come and sit peacefully and eat their sandwiches or just rest has been taken away from the people of Lockwood.

For further information on the outcome please watch this post or phone the church at 01484 548423

UPDATE ON THE SITUATION

TOILETS IN LOCKWOOD

Sadly, with all the council cuts, there is no likelihood of a toilet being reinstated in Lockwood as the only possible place is now a shop. To revert to a toilet would cost Kirklees Council too much and the cost of maintenance would not be in the council budget. However, if anyone is in real need and the church is open and there is someone to ask, they may use our toilets.

POST OFFICE IN LOCKWOOD

Enquiries have been made about a Post Office in Lockwood but sadly, once again, the answer is ‘No’! However, all is not lost and local people may find many of the Post Office Services to be found at the newsagents opposite the church on Lockwood Road. A separate page dedicated to listing all the services available in that shop will shortly be available.
